Trézor.io/start — Getting Started with your Trezor®

Welcome — Get started with Trézor®

A clear, secure path to protecting your crypto — follow these verified steps and you'll be ready in about 15 minutes.

Before you begin

What you'll need

  • Your new Trezor hardware wallet (Model One, Model T, Safe series, etc.)
  • A computer or mobile device with internet access
  • A pen and backup card for recording your recovery backup

Security tip: only use the official start page (the one shipped with the device) and Trezor Suite. If packaging looks tampered, contact support before proceeding.

Step 1 — Visit the official start page

Open your browser and go to the official Trézor start page (the address printed with your device packaging). Follow the on-screen onboarding steps — this portal guides you toward the recommended software and checks device authenticity.

This official onboarding sequence is the safest first step for every Trezor model.

Step 2 — Install Trezor Suite and firmware

Install the Trezor Suite app

Download and open Trezor Suite (desktop or web app). The Suite is the secure companion for firmware installs, account management, and transactions.

Install firmware

When connecting a brand-new device you’ll typically see a prompt to install the latest firmware. Install it — firmware ensures the device runs the most secure code.

Step 3 — Initialize, set PIN, create a backup

Initialize your device

Follow the Suite prompts to initialize as a new device. You will create a PIN — pick a PIN you can remember but that is tough to guess.

Record your recovery backup

The device will display a recovery backup (sometimes called a recovery seed). Write this down on the printed backup card immediately — store it offline and secure. Never take a photo or store it digitally.

Do not share your recovery words. Anyone with them can access your funds.

Step 4 — Authenticate & confirm

Your Trezor will ask you to confirm a few prompts on its screen — this verifies the device is genuine and that you control the hardware.

After successful authentication, Trezor Suite will present a confirmation screen indicating the device is ready to use.

Step 5 — Move funds & manage assets

Once set up, use Trezor Suite or supported wallets to receive and send crypto. For safety, transfer a small test amount first to confirm everything works as expected.

Explore features like coin management, account labeling, swap/buy integrations, and transaction history in the Suite UI.

Quick security checklist

  • Only use official software from the start page and Trezor Suite.
  • Never enter recovery words into a website or share them.
  • Keep your backup offline, and consider multiple secure storage locations.
  • Confirm firmware and device authenticity before continuing.
